Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a shocking incident on Tuesday morning, a 21-year-old student was thrown off a moving train by unknown robbers in Bihar. The incident occurred on the Kamakhya-Gaya Express, near the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur rail section in the Malda Railway Division. The victim, identified as Kajal Kumari, was traveling with her family when the robbers attempted to snatch her bag, leading to her tragic death.
According to family members, Kajal was preparing for competitive banking exams and was traveling from Kamakhya to Bhagalpur with her younger sister and brother. The robbers targeted Kajal’s bag, which contained important items like an Aadhaar card, ATM card, mobile phone, and cash. When Kajal resisted the robbery attempt, one of the robbers pushed her out of the train while it was moving slowly, causing her to fall on the platform at Sabour station, about a kilometer from Bhagalpur.
The robbers fled the scene after jumping off the train near the Sabour railway station. Kajal’s brother, Jai Kumar, recounted how they immediately pulled the emergency chain and got down at the station. However, despite the arrival of two constables, they did not help in taking Kajal to the nearest hospital. Jai and the family arranged for an auto rickshaw to take Kajal to Mayaganj Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Jai Kumar has accused the police of negligence, claiming that the delay in getting Kajal to the hospital contributed to her death. Railway ADG Bachchu Singh Meena has ordered an investigation into the incident, with the Railway Superintendent of Police, Jamalpur, tasked with visiting the scene and submitting a detailed report.
